Hi everyone! My name is Carrie Robinson and I am honored to be your 2021-2022 PISA President. As some of you may not know me yet, I wanted to let you know a bit about myself and what I am hoping to accomplish this year as your PISA President.
I was born and raised in Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL), Ontario, a small town located about 20 minutes from Niagara Falls and about 2 hours from Toronto. As much as I love my small town, when the question of where I wanted to go to University arose I knew I wanted to broaden my horizons outside of Ontario. I found Bishop’s while looking into the Maple League schools, and the second I walked onto the Bishop’s campus I felt at home. I am now going into my fourth (and final) year at Bishop’s—pursuing a double major in International Studies and Political Science and a minor in Religion—and I could not be happier with my decision. I absolutely love the Bishop’s environment and am so thankful for the opportunities that have come from attending a school that has such a close-knit community.
I first got involved in PISA in the winter of my second year as a Communications aide and was honored to serve as the Director of Communications throughout my third year. Now, going into my fourth year, I have been elected to serve as your President and am extremely excited for all that we have in store. We have an outstanding executive team this year and are already busy planning events, blog posts, and working on special projects to make PISA even more effective and efficient. My main goals include: hosting an end-of-year formal event to celebrate students in our department; creating a mentorship program to connect incoming freshmen with upper-classmen; and expanding our merchandise to include more affordable options. I also want to focus on enhancing the ‘community’ aspect of PISA—as we are primarily an association that represents the students in the Politics and International Studies program here at BU. On this note, I want to tell everyone reading that if you need help navigating Bishop’s you can always reach out to PISA or to me personally. You can message the PISA Instagram or Facebook if you have questions about our events, how to get involved, courses, or the program in general. Furthermore, if you see me around campus this year do not hesitate to say ‘Hi’ or ask me any questions. Thank you so much for reading and I look forward to seeing you throughout the school year around campus and at our events!
