The Federal Student Work Experience Program

What is the Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP)?

The FSWEP is Canada’s largest employer, and is the main program where federal organizations recruit and hire students. FSWEP allows students to work for the Canadian government and offers various careers and jobs all over Canada.

What does FSWEP do?

FSWEP provides full-time students valuable, hands-on work experience and allows for many learning opportunities. Students work in offices and laboratories, on ships and farms, at historical sites and national parks, among many other locations in cities and towns across Canada.

Who is eligible to apply?

The FSWP is open to any full-time students who are returning to studies in the next academic year. Students who are in their final year of academic study, and who are not planning on returning to full-time studies have the possibility to work part-time up until the time they graduate.  This program also targets Canadian students who are studying abroad.

Please note that there is a preference given to Canadian citizens who meet the job requirement, but non-Canadians can apply.
